J.M. is a Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. He received his Master’s Degree in Adlerian Counseling and Psychotherapy from the Adler Graduate School in Richfield, MN, and has over 4 years of experience working with children, adolescents, couples, and families. With flexibility as a priority, J.M. has experience providing therapeutic services in a variety of settings, to include outpatient, in-home, school-based, transitional housing, and hospitals/care facilities. He is also an 18-year Army Veteran, who has spent a career serving as mentor, coach, and counselor to Soldiers from all over the country. J.M. strives to tailor approaches and interventions to the individual needs of each and every client/family, utilizing Adlerian, Cognitive-Behavioral, Solution-Focused, Structural, and Strategic techniques, to name a few. He is trained in EMDR, Multisystemic Therapy (MST), and the Diagnostic Classification of Mental Health and Developmental Disorders of Infancy and Early Childhood (DC: 0-3). J.M. has experience in and passion for working with children and adolescents displaying intense, anti-social and problem behavior, trauma survivors, couples seeking to help their relationship improve, families in crisis, urban populations, and disorders to include PTSD, Depression, Anxiety, and ADHD.


J.M. believes in increasing individual responsibility and helping clients take control of their lives and circumstances by creating a lifestyle built on thriving, as opposed to surviving. He strives to facilitate client relationships built on collaboration, trust, candor, and mutual respect, and provide high levels of empathy and encouragement along the way. J.M. is a firm believer that problems do not occur in a vacuum, helping all clients gain a systemic perspective, and aiding them in the enhancement of their social ecologies.
